As a discipline, comparative literature consists of both literary and language studies, in accordance with the recent academic framework throughout the World which focus on interdisciplinary studies.  The Department of Comparative Literature at Eskişehir Osmangazi University acts with the aim of establishing a permanent base for such an interdisciplinary research, which is missing in our country. Our department aims at contributing to the idea of “world culture” and “world literature”, and therefore, examines different literary traditions, cultures, and arts from universal perspective, by avoiding intolerance and conservatism in cultural matters.  Our department declares its vision with the aim of educating people on international subjects, languages, culture, literary traditions and art, and thus contributing to the literary, cultural and social life in Turkey.
